What Is Still to Come for Carnival Cruise Line in 2022?

After just six months, 2022 has already been an eventful year for Carnival Cruise Line, but there is still more to come.

What milestones has the cruise line already achieved this year, and what can eager travelers expect during the rest of 2022 aboard their favorite Fun Ships?

Already in 2022

After the hiatus that the cruise industry overcame from the beginning of 2020 until the resumption of cruises in mid-2021, this year has been filled with important milestones.

2022 began with significant challenges, as Carnival Cruise Line has overcome many Port denials, itinerary changes and cancellations early in the year in the wake of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Health protocols were adjusted as needed and in late January, the cruise line partnered with Dao to bring VeriFly to the entire fleeteasing the hassle of documents and speeding up the boarding process.

In February, the line was pulled Carnival feeling without having the service of restarting the ship, announced the retirement of Carnival ecstasyand we say goodbye Carnival glamor since that ship was scrap.

These changes have helped continue the modernization of the Fun Ship fleet, bringing new and updated vessels to avid cruisers.

This modernization has included the addition of the new red, white and blue hull color throughout the fleet, including Carnival horizon AND Dawn of the Carnival.

However, Carnival has not forgotten the old favorites that passengers love, and in March they returned Spirit of Carnival in the USA for the first time in a decade.

Also in March, the cruise line celebrated 50 years of sailing with its fun-filled “Sailabration” voyages, including special meetings at sea for all her ships. And what better way to truly celebrate an important birthday than officially the start of construction of the third Excel-class ship, Carnival jubileewith the ship’s steel cutting ceremony?

In early April, Carnival announced it the biggest season ever in Alaska with three ships stationed at the Final Frontier and delivered on that promise with The brilliance of carnivals returning to service as The last carnival ship to welcome guests at the restart as she left Seattle in early May.

Carnival Cruise Line has proven this year that it can react quickly and positively to emergency situations.

Several ships, including the ship Mardi Grashave helped or rescued stranded ships, Carnival horizon helped a family stranded in ArubaAND Carnival Freedom overcome the shock of one fire funnel with a new classic look.

These are just a few of the incredible accomplishments and achievements Carnival Cruise Line has already accomplished in 2022 – and there are many more to come as the year continues!

More 2022 milestones to come

As the year continues, Carnival Cruise Line can look forward to what are sure to be some big moments in the coming months.

The return of the captain’s galley

While no official announcement has been made yet, Carnival fans are eagerly awaiting the return of the popular Italian restaurant Cucina del Capitano aboard the nine ships in the fleet.

Temporarily closed in mid-May due to staff shortagesthe specialty dining venue has been open for lunch service only, with select foods available in the main dining room during dinner.

Cucina del Capitano closed at the same time Special dining events at the kitchen table were suspended. like The Leaderboard began resuming on June 30it is likely that Cucina del Capitano will reopen soon as the staff continues to improve – perhaps as late as July or early August.

Staffing matters across the fleet continue to improve and guests can also see other popular onboard events, such as the Suess at Sea Breakfast and the Behind the Fun tour, returning in the coming weeks.

Carnival celebration is currently in the final stages of construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Turku, Finland. While the ship’s debut is slated for early November, significant milestones are sure to be reached, with some milestones likely to come in September and October.

Of the ship The coin ceremony was held on June 15moving the lucky coins from under the ship’s keel to a permanent home near her mast.

Soon the ship will go out to touch the ocean for the first time and she will have to pass her sea trials to prove her operational capabilities.

After that, she will finish her inner wear and start bringing in crew members to train as her November debut approaches.

In October, Carnival ecstasy will be retired—the only one of the Fantasy-class ships to receive a final, farewell season of sailing.

While the two youngest of these smaller ships, Carnival joy AND Carnival Paradiseremaining in the fleet, the other five sister ships – Fantasy, Fascination, Imagination, inspirationAND sensation – were all sold and decommissioned during the pandemic shutdown.

Not all unique and memorable elements of Carnival ecstasy however will be missed when he retires. of The vintage 1934 Rolls Royce saloon from the ship’s promenade has been removedand is planned to be part of Golden Jubilee Bar and Lounge IN Carnival celebrationwhich will house a variety of memorabilia from former Carnival ships.

Carnival Luminosa joins the fleet

Two big events are coming up for Carnival Cruise Line in late October and early November. First, Costa Luminosa it’s transferring to the Carnival fleet to be made Bright carnivalcomplete with renamed spaces, a full carnival team and new colors on her funnel (though not the classic carnival “whale” tail).

The ship will remain Costa Luminosa until the end of August, after which it will undergo dry-docking to rebuild it as a carnival ship. The exact date of Bright carnival‘s debut has yet to be revealed, but Carnival Cruise Line did recently unveiled a new website specifically for updates on the new, re-imagined ship.

In November, the biggest event of the year for Carnival Cruise Line will be the official debut of Carnival celebrationscheduled to begin her inaugural 14-night cruise from Southampton to Miami on November 6.

The ship is likely to be officially christened in Miami in early November, before embarking on a 6-8 night Caribbean cruise from its southern Florida port.
