McKeon becomes the biggest of Comm Games

Swimmer Emma McKeon became the most successful athlete in Commonwealth Games history by winning her 11th gold medal in the pool overnight.

McKeon put her name in the record books by winning the 50m freestyle.

It was an Aussie trifecta as Meg Harris (silver) and Shayna Jack (bronze) joined her on the podium.

Titmus fastest ever in world record relay

The women’s 4x200m freestyle relay team set a new world record on their way to gold.

Madison Wilson, Kiah Melverton, Mollie O’Callaghan and Ariarne Titmus were dominant. Titmus in particular, whose final leg of 1:52.82 was the fastest 200-meter swim in history.

Emma McKeon was due to swim in the 4x200m but withdrew after winning her 11th Comm Games gold earlier in the night.

McKeown breaks record

Kaylee McKeown broke the Commonwealth Games Record in the 100m backstroke to win gold.

McKeown swam 58.60 to top Canada’s Kylie Masse in the final 25 meters.

Cricket Austrians dominate Barbados

The Aussie women’s cricket team made it two from two in Group A with a crushing win over Barbados.

Alana King took 4/8 to help dismiss Barbados for 64 as Meg Lanning top scored with 36 as the Aussies chased the total down in the ninth over.

Stubblety-Cook is happy with the silver

Zac Stubblety-Cook was upset in the 100m breaststroke, finishing second.

The Olympic champion was beaten by England’s James Wilby after a typically slow first 50m.

Aussie Sam Williamson won bronze.

Rugby 7 gold

The Aussie women’s rugby 7s team also won Gold with a 22-12 win over Fiji.

Faith Nathan scored a brace as the Australian team secured their first ever gold medal.

Kiwi gold in the pool

New Zealand’s Lewis Clareburt won gold in the 200m butterfly, ending the dominance of three-time defending champion Chad le Clos of South Africa.

It was Clareburt’s second gold medal in 24 hours.

Richardson makes it a sprint double

Matthew Richardson completed a sprint double in cycling by taking gold in the men’s sprint.

After helping Australia’s sprint team win gold on Friday, he made it two from two by beating Trinidad and Tobago’s Nicholas Paul in the individual event.

Gold for Georgia

Gymnast Georgia Godwin was successful in the women’s all-around final, winning gold over English teenager Ondine Achampong.

And cyclist Georgia Baker took gold in the velodrome in the 25km points race.
