Argentina is the country in the region with the highest percentage of people claiming to suffer from burnout, according to data from the private sector.
Among the symptoms experienced is a “lack of energy or extreme fatigue and negativism or cynicism” about their work.
“The World Health Organization defines burnout syndrome as a general state of physical, emotional and mental exhaustion created by situations of chronic stress in the work environment,” explains the analysis prepared by the online employment portal Boomeran.
He also clarified that “WHO has recognized burn as a disease and will be included in the International Statistical Classification of Diseases”.
According to the analysis, those who work in Argentina are the ones who mostly report feeling the syndrome.
“Eighty-six percent of Argentines do so compared to 82% of Chileans, 74% of Ecuadorians, 78% of Panamanians and 66% of Peruvians,” he compared.
Meanwhile, the study noted that the percentage of people in Argentina suffering from burnout is also higher than the regional average, which is 81%.
Regarding the possible causes, 21% of the surveyed Argentinians highlighted the lack of clarity regarding their role and another 21% the work overload.
In contrast, in other countries of the region, the majority selected only overwork: 24% in Chile, 26% in Ecuador, 23% in Panama and 24% in Peru.
89.13% of women surveyed said they suffered from the syndrome compared to 82.51% of men.
Boomeran estimated that this is partly due to greater participation in housework and care for dependents.
In the city of Buenos Aires, it affects 88.89%, while in Greater Buenos Aires, it affects 86.24% and, in the whole country, apart from these two areas, 83.79%.
47% plan to change jobs, 12% plan to do activities that help them relax, 5% plan to develop a routine that will help them, and another 5% plan to do nothing.
Meanwhile, 3% intend to spend more time with their loved ones and 28% will do some of the things mentioned above.
