Wildfires reported in north Redding and in Oak Run

A fire burned in a greenbelt at Cascade Boulevard and Oasis Road Sunday evening.

Firefighters worked two separate fires Sunday night: a two-alarm fire north of Redding and a fire in Oak Run Sunday night.

A fire broke out around 5:40 p.m. in the area of ​​Cascade Boulevard, north of Oasis Road, according to emergency radio traffic. The fire was burning in a greenbelt area west of Cascade Boulevard, according to radio traffic.

It was not clear how many acres had burned, but firefighters had called a “second alarm,” meaning all available fire stations were assigned to the blaze.

Firefighters halted the fire’s progress and began releasing fire engines by 6:20 p.m.

Another fire started around 5:15 p.m. and burned about 6 acres in the area of ​​Oak Run Road and Oak Run to Fern Road. An official with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said two structures were threatened by the fire.
