Firefighters worked two separate fires Sunday night: a two-alarm fire north of Redding and a fire in Oak Run Sunday night.
A fire broke out around 5:40 p.m. in the area of Cascade Boulevard, north of Oasis Road, according to emergency radio traffic. The fire was burning in a greenbelt area west of Cascade Boulevard, according to radio traffic.
It was not clear how many acres had burned, but firefighters had called a “second alarm,” meaning all available fire stations were assigned to the blaze.
Firefighters halted the fire’s progress and began releasing fire engines by 6:20 p.m.
Another fire started around 5:15 p.m. and burned about 6 acres in the area of Oak Run Road and Oak Run to Fern Road. An official with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said two structures were threatened by the fire.
