Windies in Group C at ICC U19 Women’s World Cup

The West Indies have been drawn in Group C at the inaugural ICC Women’s U19 World Cup in South Africa.

The regional women’s U19 team has been drawn against New Zealand, Ireland and Indonesia.

West Indies open against Ireland on January 15 before matches against Indonesia (January 17) and Ireland (January 19).

A West Indies team played a warm-up tournament against the USA in August, losing 4-1.

The team was selected from players who competed in the Cricket West Indies U19 Women’s Rising Stars Championship in July.

The inaugural ICC Women’s U19 World Cup, which features 16 teams playing 41 matches in 15 days, is scheduled for January 14 to 29, 2023 in South Africa.

The 16 teams consist of 11 full ICC members and five associate teams, divided into four groups.

The top three teams from each group advance to the Super Six league stage, with teams from Group A facing teams from Group D and teams from Group B competing against Group C.

The Super Six begins on January 20, with the semi-finals on January 27 and the final on January 29.

Sixteen warm-up matches are scheduled for 9 and 11 January in Johannesburg and Tshwane.

The matches will be played in Benoni and Potchefstroom.
