Jamaica’s Brianna Lyston secured her first major championship medal with gold in the women’s 200m at the U-20 World Championships in Cali, Colombia on Friday.

The 18-year-old clocked 22.65 seconds for an easy win.

USA’s Jayla Jamison secured silver in a personal best of 22.77 seconds, while fellow Jamaican Alana Reid took bronze in 22.95, also a personal best.

Lyston was the heavy favorite in light of her marked progress this year. She improved this year from 23.18 to 22.53 in the 200m and 11.44 to 11.14 in the 100m.
