Norman – The University of Oklahoma men’s and women’s cross country teams begin their 2022 seasons Thursday in Columbia, Mo., at the Mizzou XC Opener.
The meet, held at Gans Creek Cross Country Course, will feature a men’s 6K and women’s 5K team race. The Sooners will have eight female runners and nine on the male side.
Soon they are back on the course under the guidance of the assistant coach of the cross Hannah Fieldsher sophomore year at OU.
“The team is excited to start the season at the Missouri XC Opener,” said Fields. “This will be our first time racing on this course, so we’re looking forward to getting familiar with the regional meet location. We’re using this race to test our summer fitness against some great competition.”
The Sooners return multiple contributors from their 2021 squad and will welcome many new faces, with seven returning.
