Zareen dedicates win to Fijians battling vision impairment

Newly crowned Miss Back to Ba Carnival Rukshar Zareen has dedicated her win to Fijians struggling with visual impairment.

Lovu girl Lautoka bagged two grand prizes, Miss Ba and Miss Charity from the week-long pageant, a victory she termed as the beginning of many successes ahead.

“I have always wanted to participate in a carnival like this to help me gain my confidence in public speaking and I am happy that this Ba gave me the right platform,” said the Fiji National University student.

“I was also able to promote the issue of visual impairment and the importance of care and concern for our brothers and sisters with this medical condition.

“My main message was – save your dollar, it can save a person’s life and I’m glad the message was well received by those at the carnival,” she said.

Ms Zareen, 24, was sponsored by Bayview Cove Resort and Lovely Rental Cars and competed against six other young queens.

She said she was grateful to the carnival organizers for allowing her to be part of the event.
